Free-Mounted Magnetic Drive Pump with Inducer – Low NPSHR
The Free-Mounted Magnetic Drive Pump with Inducer is designed for industrial pumping systems where suction conditions are challenging and maintaining reliable operation is important. The pump combines a sealless magnetic drive arrangement with a specially designed inducer to improve the flow conditions at the pump inlet and reduce the required NPSH.
The magnetic coupling transfers torque from the motor to the impeller without using a conventional mechanical shaft seal. This makes the pump well suited to processes where leakage of the pumped fluid needs to be minimized, particularly when handling corrosive or sensitive fluids.
Inducer and Low NPSHR Design
The inducer is positioned at the suction side of the pump and helps increase the velocity of the incoming fluid before it reaches the main impeller. By improving the inlet flow conditions, the inducer reduces the pump’s NPSHR and helps lower the risk of cavitation.
This is particularly useful in systems where the available suction head is limited or where the fluid has a relatively high vapor pressure. A lower NPSHR gives the pump more flexibility when designing the suction piping and selecting the installation arrangement.
Magnetic Drive and Internal Circulation
The pump uses a magnetic coupling instead of a conventional rotating shaft seal. The inner and outer magnet assemblies transfer the required torque through the isolation shell, keeping the pumped fluid contained inside the pump.
The internal circulation system also plays an important role in cooling and lubricating the pump bearings. Fluid from the pump is directed through dedicated passages around the bearing area, helping control temperature and reduce wear during operation.
The isolation shell is designed with internal flow paths and a bottom fin arrangement to improve fluid circulation and reduce unwanted vortex formation. A temperature probe can also be incorporated when monitoring the pump temperature is required.

Construction and Operating Conditions
The pump can be manufactured using corrosion-resistant materials such as SUS316 and SUS316L, making it suitable for many chemical and industrial process applications.
Depending on the selected configuration, the magnetic system can use NdFeB magnets for higher-torque applications or SmCo magnets for higher-temperature service. The stated operating temperature range is approximately -40°C to +250°C, while the pump casing can be designed for pressures up to 25 bar.
The pump can also handle fluids containing solid particles up to approximately 0.3 mm, with a maximum concentration of around 2% by weight, subject to the selected pump configuration and operating conditions.
Applications
This pump configuration can be used in chemical processing, petrochemical plants, oil and gas facilities, pharmaceutical production, and other industrial systems where reliable pumping and controlled suction conditions are required.
It is especially worth considering for applications where cavitation risk, limited suction head, corrosive fluids, or leakage prevention are important factors in pump selection.
For proper model selection, the required flow rate, head, fluid temperature, viscosity, specific gravity, vapor pressure, suction conditions, and solids content should be considered.
